The establishment of PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia IV (Persero) can not be separated with a history of policy management systems seaports in Indonesia. Before the year 1983 the management of sea ports afforded implemented by 8 (eight) State Enterprise Business Entity form of PN. Pelabuhan I - VIII.
In 1983 in line with the policy of the government's order of national seaport set of 4 (four) the gate of the national foreign trade, then do mergers of 8 PN Enterprises. Pelabuhan to be 4 (four) business entities with the status of the Public Company (Perum), one of them is Perum Pelabuhan IV.
Perum Pelabuhan IV is the result of PN merger. Pelabuhan V, VI, VII, and VIII, coupled with 6 (six) ports that are not cultivated in the province of Irian Jaya, whose establishment is based on Peraturan Pemerintah (PP) No. 17 Tahun 1983 yo PP. No. 7 Tahun 1985. Subsequently in 1992, based on PP. 59 tahun 1991, Badan Usaha Perum status transferred to Persero, it is PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia IV boosted with the endorsement through Akta Notaris Imas Fatimah, SH No. 7 dated December 1st, 1992.

It is now announced that PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia IV (Persero) requires 10 (ten) people to join as Tenaga Pandu, with the following requirements :
Tenaga Pandu
Qualifications :
- Male, age max 35 years old (as of May 1st, 2012)
- Having a minimum diploma of ANT III (preferably ANT II)
- Work experience of at least 3 (three) years (preferably ex. Nahkoda)
- Minimum body height 162 cm
- Not color blind and do not wear glasses or opticles or eye defects
- Physically and mentally healthy
- Willing to be placed around the working area of the Port of PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia IV (Persero)
- Willing to follow the training guide for 9 months
Documents to be attached :
- Copy of a general diploma (from elementary school up to the final diploma)
- Photocopy of ANT diploma which has been legalized by the competent authority or you can bring the original diploma
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Copy of Certificate of Seafarers Skills (Sertifikat Ketrampilan Pelaut)
- Surat Keterangan Masa Layar from Syahbandar
- Photocopy of Seaman Book
- Surat Keterangan Berkelakuan Baik of Police
- Pass photo size 3x4 cm 3 (three) pieces
Selection Process :
Selection of work covering the material in the form of substantive areas, English ability, competence, health and interviews as well as other additional tests deemed necessary.
